Wolens received her BA in Art History from University College London and master's from Columbia University in Curating and Criticism of Modern Art. Prior to joining NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale\, Wolens served as Assistant Curator at SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah\, Georgia\, where she curated exhibitions of artists such as Sanford Biggers\, Ra l de Nieves\, Paulina Olowska\, Wong Ping and Rose B. Simpson.
