Animalia showcases beautiful works of art by the glass maestros of Murano and spotlights the Sommerso technique developed in the 1930s to blow multi-colored glass sculptures without mixing the contrasting colors. Chihuly’s experience in Murano changed his ideas about glass blowing and inspired his Venetian series at WMODA. Murano glass animals reflect the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic and became world-famous as tourists flocked to Venice and bought glass art to take home. In the Animalia selling exhibition presented by Italian glass expert, Sergio Gnesin, you can also acquire works of art by famous Murano maestros, including Nason, Signoretto. Cenedese, and Seguso. Proceeds benefit the educational programs at WMODA.
