Join us for our June Film Discussion Series featuring short clips of the film We Were Here. During the 1970s, San Francisco became a safe haven for the gay and lesbian community, providing a place where one could live openly, away from discrimination. But, after almost a decade of celebration, the city was hit by a wave of shock and grief when it became ground zero of the AIDS epidemic, with hundreds of gay men falling victim to the disease. Several clips will be played and followed by an audience discussion on the ideas and implications of the scenes and the film’s impact. Audience members do not need to have seen the film beforehand to participate in the discussion. This event will be available both in-person and online via Facebook and Zoom.
